It's all anyone can talk about.
I was not lucky enough to have those cool eclipse viewing glasses, so I didn't celebrate #Eclipse2017. Instead, I lived through some of my favourite celebs who spent the day humbly bragging about their experiences. Here are some highlights:

Chris Brown is ready to share his side of the story.
You may recall that madness ensued after news broke that Chris Brown had assaulted then girlfriend Rihanna in the car on the night of the 2009 Grammys. Now, in his new documentary Chris Brown: Welcome To My Life he doesn't hold back when sharing what went down.
Like every story, there are two sides and then there's the truth. I never really took sides with this incident and I don't support any kind of violence regardless of what gender you are. I'm glad that I finally got to hear his version of events following years of only knowing Rihanna's story. I think two wrongs don't make a right and that this is a messy situation of everyone. Toronto singer and songwriter Melanie Peterson just released her latest EP "Two" on July 26th and held a show at The Artists' Garden to celebrate. She was kind enough to answer a few of my questions. Check out our Q&A below:
What is the inspiration behind your new EP?
The inspiration for this new EP is the life I've been living while going for my dreams in Toronto. I've poured my heart and soul into these songs and they both reflect an aspect of love that I have had personal experience with in recent years.
Are you hoping listeners will feel a certain way?
I'm hoping the listeners will relate to the songs in a personal way and think, yes, I get that, I've felt that way before, or even, I'm feeling that way right now.
What do you have planned next?
In August I am playing summer dates in Ontario, and then the plan is to release my third full-length album in waves. ‘Two’, released July 14, 2017, was the first installment. I want to make as ambitious an album as possible, doing things I have never done before musically and lyrically. And I'm hoping people will like these two songs enough to get the next four, and are engaged enough to come along with me and ride every single wave.
If you follow me on social media, you probably are aware of my love for Eatwell. Their chef bowls are to die for and 100% Insta-worthy, hence why I think they fit quite well with The Saverina Scozzari Collective brand. I could totally see the Kardashians or Beyoncé popping by for lunch or dinner if they lived in Hamilton (and hopefully they'd invite me to join them).
Our collaboration will find a different bowl featured on here every month along with a Q&A with the chef. For the first part of this blog post series, I chose the Garden Fresh Bowl. I love all of the ingredients individually so I'm thrilled to have them put together like a big beautiful happy family in a bowl. Check out my Q&A with Head Chef Josh Wortley:

Where do you find inspiration for the Chef Bowls?
The inspiration for our hand crafted chef bowls comes from the literally from nature, first we bring in the freshest in-season vegetables and then heighten their natural taste using different spices, marinades and cooking methods . Then we are all the fixins - specially sourced proteins like our heritage pork as well as tasty sauces like peanut and coconut. We like to let the vegetables speak for themselves while adding suitable pairings to each bowl that won't overpower the focus of each dish, which is the vegetables.
Why should people try the Garden Fresh bowl?
The reason that people should try the Garden Fresh bowl is the combination of flavours we have in there. The smokiness of the salmon plays well with the spicy chocolate of the mole and the cherry dressing. The freshness of the lemon thyme and the earthiness of the beets is a great pairing to the spiciness of the organic greens.

What was the last thing you said to yourself about yourself?
Was it "I am looking so gorgeous today"?
Or maybe "My legs look really great..."
How about "My body is so amazing!"
Was it possibly a bit more negative???
How you talk to yourself and your opinion of yourself truly affects how you think, feel and act. I know it seems like such a small thing but it honestly makes a huge difference.
Being kind with your self talk and giving yourself love will result in being more confident, believing in yourself and less of a need for outside approval.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not perfect in this area. I definitely don't wake up singing that my thighs are looking thin and beautiful! That is part of the reason for this post - this is something I know I need to work on and talking about it hopefully helps us both!
Your actions stem from beliefs.
Your habits stem from actions.
Your daily life stems from habits.
A touch deep, yes - but it makes sense. If you are internally putting yourself down you will start to believe it and your actions will reflect your feelings about yourself. Talking to yourself positively and with kindness will result in healthier actions and habits.
So how can you change your self talk? Here are a few steps to get you started...
Self-talk is very natural. You may not be aware of what you’ve been saying to yourself all these years! Start to really pay attention and be conscious of your internal commentary about yourself and how it makes you feel.
MAKE A CHANGE.
Just because you are saying something to yourself, does not mean its true. Start to dispute your negative self-talk and challenge any harsh criticism by telling yourself that it is untrue. For example; Indulging in one unhealthy meal does not make you an unhealthy person. You don’t always have to always be super positive about everything but you do need to stop any negativity. Think about how you would talk to your 8 year old self - try to talk to your adult self in the same manner – be kind, truthful and supportive.
Your negative self-talk didn’t happen overnight. There is a good chance you have been telling yourself the same messages, over and over until you eventually accepted them as true. That is the power of consistency. Now is the time to change that consistency for the better! We need to hear a message multiple times before we accept it. Instead of any negative messages you have been feeding yourself, choose a kinder, more supportive message. For example – instead of “I’m so mad at myself for eating all those chips. I have no willpower. I’m unhealthy and never going to lose weight.” Try, “Those chips were delicious and I enjoyed them. I will make an effort to eat a fresh healthy dinner tonight and stay on track with my healthy weight loss goals.”
Remember – your body hears everything your mind says…
Write down one thing you love about yourself in the morning. Write it in your journal, on a sticky note on the fridge or in lipstick on your bathroom mirror. Whenever you catch yourself in negative self talk, stop, take a deep breath, smile and bring your thoughts to the thing you love about yourself that you wrote down that morning. Practice this every day for 3 months and notice how your self talk and internal beliefs start to change and in turn how your actions and habits also change. Your inner dialogue will grow wiser with practice and your self talk will become more positive and kind.
