It's time for the final #FunFriday post of this blogging season!
What better way to end the season than with an interview with comedian and TV host
Adam Growe? We chatted about his podcast, what changes lay ahead as well as how he feels about being known as the 'Cash Cab guy'. Check out our Q&A below:
What inspired Pick A Number?
Pick A Number was inspired by a phone call and a dream! The Executive Producer of Antica Productions called me last summer (2016) to see if I'd be interested in pitching a podcast for a network he was launching (The Antica Podcast Network). We had worked together previously on a radio program called, "Newshounds". It was a highly rated summer replacement series for CBC. I was going to send him some pitch concepts for the podcast. But, at the end of the phone conversation he explained that he had actually had a dream about me doing a podcast for the network and that all he remembered what that it had to do with numbers and interesting facts about those numbers. So, I ran with that and created an interview format in which I use a number to lead to an eclectic mix of topics to discuss with interesting guests.
There are going to be some changes in format in the near future - can you tease them a bit for us?
We are retooling the format of the podcast after 18 episodes in order to introduce comedy into the content. I'll still use numbers to get to interesting factoids, but my guests will participate in a humorous quiz based on those numbers and respond to funny questions inspired by the numbers. Not all guests will be comedians, but they will have lots of laughs in the studio. We expect the first episode of the NEW Pick A Number to be available at the same hub: http://www.anticaproductions.com/pick-a-number later this month, or early July.
My friends were very excited that "the Cash Cab guy" (their words, not mine) commented on my Instagram photo. Is this reaction common? How does it make you feel?
I love that people are excited about "Cash Cab" and thrilled when people still refer to me as the "Cash Cab Guy". It was such a great show to work on and I'm very proud of what we accomplished in 8 seasons! The contestants were fantastic and I can't blame people for wanting to be in the Cash Cab. It really was that much fun! It's quite common for me to be recognized by at least someone when I'm out and about. People are very thankful for a show that they've been able to enjoy in many stages of their life and watch with their friends, as well as with their kids, or their parents, or BOTH! I miss Hosting the show, but I've got some other ideas that I'm confident will lead to more amazing viewing experiences in the years ahead!
Time for another fun Q&A!
This time I had the chance to chat with actor Jake Raymond about a few of the many projects he's working on as well as what advice he has for aspiring actors. Check out the Q&A below:
You've been pretty busy promoting Ashes. Why should people go see it?
Indeed, it’s been an incredible journey so far. ‘Ashes’ has a lot of heart and one of the biggest notes from audience feedback thus far has been in complimenting the chemistry between the four main characters. I have been so grateful for this because the film was made to create an acting opportunity for myself and my best friends (Sara Mitich, Craig Arnold, Tanya Bevan). As actors, we face so much rejection, I wanted to create an opportunity for all of us to work together and do what we love. I am so happy that our real life friendships resonate on screen and have created characters that the audience can relate to.
You will also be appearing on Salvation - can you tease your role?
‘Salvation’ is one of the best sets I have ever been on in my life. I got to work alongside Charlie Rowe and Dewshane Williams, two phenomenal actors that I have a great deal of respect for. The three of us play friends at MIT. Our director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, was so generous and gave us a lot of freedom on set. This really allowed us to find the fun in the friendship of our characters.
What advice do you have for both current and aspiring actors?
Never stop chasing your dreams. We are constantly faced with so much rejection but we have to keep pushing forward. Know that you are not alone and it’s okay to feel down sometimes. It is so important to keep doing what you love and to do everything you can to make your dreams a reality. Join forces with your friends and make a short film; or a feature film if you’re crazy like me haha… but keep pushing forward. Your successes are right around the corner and they will always over power the struggles.
Happy #WellnessWednesdsay (I'm totally eating a bowl of ice cream as I type this)!
I was lucky enough to chat with Nichelle Laus, women's transformation specialist and one of Canada's most sought after fitness experts in the industry today, about getting and staying in shape for summer. Check out our Q&A below:
Summer is around the corner and with it comes a lot of opportunities to socialize over endless amounts of food and alcohol. Do you have any tips on how we can avoid “falling off the wagon”?
Summer can definitely be challenging, but staying on track is easier than you think with the following tips!
1) Eat before you head out so you aren’t attending an event/party/gathering on an empty stomach.
2) Choose wisely and snack on crunchy veggies instead of hanging around the dessert table
3) Opt for lean proteins, veggies, and leafy salads if available
4) If attending a BBQ, bring healthier options such as chicken breast, ground bison, and skip the burger bun and wrap it in lettuce instead.
5) Pass up on the alcohol and sugary drinks, and opt for a sparkling water. Add lemon, lime, or cucumber slices for added flavor.
6) Step away from the table – you are less tempted to pick at the food.
7) Add fitness or any movement as part of the event – a great frisbee game, walk around the neighborhood with friends, water fight, etc will keep things fresh and fun!
What advice do you have for those who want to feel their best for summer, but have yet to find the motivation?
Force yourself to get started – the start is the hardest part. Write down how you feel after your workout, and track your progress. Once you start seeing results, you will be less prone to skip a workout. Get a gym buddy to hold each other accountable. Join a gym you like instead of one that is just there for convenience. Even if it means traveling a little farther, you are more likely to stay there if you enjoy the environment. Set goals that are achievable, and reward yourself when you reach your target by buying yourself something small such as a new tank top, new fresh socks, some new headbands.

I can't believe Sean "Diddy" Combs is No. 1 on the list! I mean... How?!
Apparently his Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour, Ciroc vodka partnership and selling part of his clothing line made him $130 million last year. Following him at No. 2 is the one and only Beyoncé. Check out the Top 10 (because I'm definitely not typing out all 100) below:
